Terms of use
These terms apply to the Tebing game and website at tebing.games, including when the game is installed on your device's home screen. By playing Tebing, you agree to the terms below.
1. A free service, as is
Tebing is free to play and sells nothing inside the game. We keep developing it, so levels, modes, and features may be added, changed, or removed; important changes are listed on the update notes page. Online features (versus, online co-op, world ranking, friend challenges, custom walls, progress backup, and notifications) depend on networks and third-party services, so they may occasionally be disrupted. We do our best to keep the game running, but we can't guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors.
2. Your progress and data
Progress, records, and settings are stored in your own device's browser, and can be lost if site data is cleared or you switch devices. Create a backup code in Settings → Progress backup so you can restore your progress. Keep that code safe: anyone who knows it can restore your progress. What is sent to our server and how to delete it is explained in the privacy policy.
3. Nicknames and player-made content
Some things you create can be seen by other players: your nickname on the world ranking and in friend challenges, and the name and layout of walls you share. When you create them, you may not use:
- profanity, insults, or hate speech against any ethnicity, religion, race, gender, or group;
- personal data, yours or anyone else's, such as phone numbers or addresses;
- names that impersonate other people, brands, or the Tebing developer;
- promotion, advertising, or spam.
The server automatically rejects common profanity, but no filter is perfect. We may remove or rename nicknames, walls, or challenges that break these rules, without notice. Found an inappropriate name or wall? Report it through the contact page with the wall code or challenge link.
4. Fair play
World rankings, versus races, and friend challenges are only fun when everyone plays honestly. So you may not:
- fake scores, times, or climb recordings, or submit them with automated programs;
- disrupt versus or co-op rooms, for example by sending broken messages or flooding a room;
- attack, overload, or try to break into the server, the services, or other players' backup codes;
- exploit loopholes or bugs to harm other players.
Impossible scores are rejected automatically, and we may remove scores or content that are clearly the result of cheating. If you find a loophole, please tell us through the contact page.
5. Copyright and sharing
The Tebing game, including its code, the graphics and sounds it generates, level design, text, and the articles on this website, is the work of the Tebing developer. You are welcome to share links, screenshots, result cards, fall clips, and videos of yourself playing Tebing, for example on social media. Copying, selling, or republishing the game or its articles elsewhere requires our written permission. Open-source libraries used by Tebing, such as Phaser, Matter.js, and PeerJS, remain under their own licenses.
6. A game, not a climbing manual
Tebing follows the principles of real rock climbing, but its moves, gear, and hazards are simplified for a game. The articles on this website are general information. Real rock climbing carries a risk of injury, so don't treat the game or these articles as a substitute for learning in person from certified instructors, climbing gym staff, or local clubs and federations.
7. Ads and third-party services
To support development, Tebing may show ads from third parties such as Google. Online modes use third-party services to connect players. Those services are subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content of other websites linked from Tebing or from ads.
8. Young players
Tebing can be played at any age. For children under 13, we recommend that a parent or guardian is involved, especially when using online modes and nicknames.
9. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated, for example when new features arrive. The effective date is always shown at the top of this page. By continuing to play after a change, you agree to the updated terms.
10. Contact
Questions about these terms, content reports, or permission requests can be sent through the contact page.
